Hola everyone,
My new 60 lb CQR from Seattle ,WA . is awaiting collection from Customs. It will be a welcome addition to my anchoring aresenal. My 45 lb CQR has managed very well in good holding, but tends to slip in poorer conditions. For 15 lbs extra weight I get a blade area almost 100% larger....I am hoping this will allow me to sleep well in most situations.
Hauling in up to 200 feet of 3/8th G3 chain by manual windlass ,although very good exercise,is not fun !! I will be installing a Lofrans Falkon .The HWG wind generator is vibrating like a jackhammer;the pivot bearing needs to be replaced. Two Pelicans has been inwater for 18 months and needs a haulout. For these reasons I will be returning to Vero Beach in April; I will have Jilly on board as crew;she has been cruising here on a large Cat and will be enroute home to Outer Mongolia, via Vero where she has friends to visit.
A 2 week long bout of acute brochitis has kept me on board and out of trouble this month.......I can recommend the Bahamian medical services, both for efficiency and affordability!!I believe I picked this bug up at The Rake and Scrape.......at Eddie's Edgewater Bar ........my friends Klaus and now Jenny have also succumbed!!
Yesterday,March 25th, I moved from Kidd's Cove to Volley Ball Beach in anticipation of a strong Norther; sure enough, around 1900 the wind was howling at 50 knots from the NW and a few boats dragged anchor. The wind dropped to 5 knots by midnight;this morning it has backed to the NE at 35 knots and now Two Pelicans is nicely sheltered under the lee of Stocking Island.Last night there was a huge house fire in George Town. We understand there were no casualties but the Post Office Manager lost his home and all his possessions. Let's see what 250 cruisers can do for him!!

George Town,Exumas.
hello everyone, Two Pelicans arrived George Town ,Exumas on February 14th. After a bumpy three nights at the Exuma Yacht Services dock fuelling and stocking up I am safely anchored near Kidd Cove.......in 6 ft of water !!! I have the 45 CQR out on 60 ft of 3/8th G3 as well as the FX37 on 150ft of nylon. Its been wonderful weather but somewhat windy...50 mph gusts last night. The holding is good sand so we are not going anywhere soon!!!
Tonight I had dinner with Klaus and Jenny on Blue Pelican.......the boat we recovered from the reef on Andros last winter !!! Nice to see them again under very different circumstances!!!
My crew Anne left 4 days ago to return to Australia.I am looking on http://www.findacrew.com/ and http://www.7knots.com/ for crew.
If anyone you know would like to spend some time on board just holla !!!
I am very happy to announce that I will become a Grandpa in August.
